Are you ready to roll out with the Autobots to battle alongside Optimus Prime and his team to defend Earth from Megatron and the Decepticons? Because the moment you have all been waiting for has landed on the 26th of June, brought to you by Hasbro and director Michael Bay!

Don’t wait until the last minute to get your tickets.

Word has it that Michael Bay, director of the Transformers franchise, has included a new addition to the latest sequel of Transformers. We don’t want to spoil the party for you but I’m sure you have seen the trailer in the cinemas on who this latest addition in the movie is (psst, they’re the good guys, they’re robots too, and it starts with a ‘D’!) There has also been some changes to the cast, particularly the lead roles for both male and female. Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whitely have been dropped in favour for Mark Wahlberg (Cade Yeager) and Nicola Peltz (she plays Wahlberg’s daughter, Tessa). Megan Fox had previously appeared in the first and second Transformers movies, alongside Shia LaBeouf and Josh Duhamel. Eventually, in the third Transformers instalment, Rosie Huntington-Whitely had taken Fox’s spot as the leading lady of the movie. Personally, I’d have preferred Megan Fox to carry on the Transformers legacy. Huntington-Whitely had the tendency to scream throughout the movie and was an annoying damsel in distress. But hey, that’s my opinion. Now in the fourth instalment, both LaBeouf and Huntington-Whitely have been replaced with Wahlberg and Peltz. Even Duhamel’s name has disappeared from the list!

An excerpt of the movie synopsis taken from IMDb:

After defeating Sentinel Prime and Megatron’s army in Chicago, the Autobots have gone into hiding after the government deemed all transformers as threats, and thus, began to hunt them all down. The government has thus replaced the Autobots with their own transformers using technology from the fallen transformers. Meanwhile, a mechanic, his daughter, and his daughter’s boyfriend become dragged into the conflict upon discovering Optimus Prime in their possession, and all the while, a mysterious new enemy, Lockdown, sets his eyes on earth.

This constant swapping of actors and actresses is quite a chore. Yet, keeping up with the ins and outs of Autobots and Decepticons is equally tedious! I, for one, can only recall Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron. What about you?

Tell us:

  1. What do you remember about the past three Transformers movies?
  2. How did you feel when your favourite character was replaced by a new individual?
  3. Who do you support: Autobot or Decepticon?
